Welcome to Poway’s most inspiring Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) academy — led by Professor Jeff Mata, who is one of only three blind BJJ black belts in the United States. Born and raised in Poway, our head instructor is not only a certified black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under hall of famer Master Baret Yoshida, but also an active competitor for Team USA in Paralympic Judo and a seasoned Ironman triathlete. With real world experience in elite level competition and unmatched resilience, he brings a unique and powerful perspective to every class.
